Skylar followed her, Trying to keep up with her pace. Eventually he managed to walk by her side as they strolled the dead streets of Freeside. Her abrupt stop startled Skylar and he quickly stopped himself so he wouldn’t rush right past her.

As Bera gestured towards the bright neon sign Skylar squinted, if there was one thing he needed to get use to it was the neon around here. He listened intently as she spoke and praised the Kings, nodding and smiling at almost all her words. “They sound like decent people” Skylar replied at the end of her spiel over the Kings. He stopped and looked over the building once more giving it a nod, but before he knew it the woman was way ahead of him. “She sure is excited to see show me the town. Wish more people in the wastes were this cheery” he thought to himself.

As she led him down the streets he kept his hand close to his ten millimeter, he already learned the hard way that Freeside was full of thugs who were always looking for a victim to pounce on. As they stood in front of Mick and Ralph’s Skylar couldn’t help but notice Dixon dealing out drugs to the local chem addicts. Skylar simply shook his head in disgust and then diverted his attention to Bera. “I might step inside just to take a look, in fact I think I will step inside to take a look. Care to join me?” he asked Bera as he held the door to Mick and Ralph’s open, awaiting her to step in first. 

Bera smiled and strutted through the doorway into the small shop. She briefly greeted Ralph, who was behind his desk before waving to Mick.

The woman turned back to face Skylar and said “They’ve got a little bit of everythin’, I’m sure you’ll find something you need. Talk to Mick if you are looking for anything weapons-related.” Bera then proceeded to browse the shelves of the store, occasionally pausing to tinker with an item whenever something caught her attention. At one point, she accidentally dropped some scrap metal, which resulted in an angry look from Ralph. Bera grinned sheepishly as she hurried to return it to its place on the shelf.

He smiled at  her positive response, people skills weren’t exactly his strong suit, but this woman didn’t seem to care. “About time I got to see this to-“ his thoughts were interrupted as he was pulled off his stool. He had to gain his balance after he was taken off the stool, he took a minute hoping that he wouldn’t trip on his way to the door. “I just want to look ‘round town. So I guess we’ll go where you think is best I suppose” his voice cheerful. “Understood” her replied with a stern look as she warned him about running ahead, it seemed like all over folks were looking to hurt one another. It wasn’t that much of a shock to Skylar. Besides, he knew better than to start a fight at all, especially in this city. “Lead the way” he called out to the woman as he pointed to the door.

Bera briskly walked ahead of Skylar; the woman took a left after exiting the bar, then continued straight down one of the town’s dilapidated roads towards a building adorned with brightly illuminated signs. She stopped a few meters away from the entrance, and turned back towards Skylar as he came to a stop behind her. 

“This,” Bera said excitedly, raising her arms into the air in order to indicate the building, “is where the Kings hang out. They’re a local gang, but they ain’t like the nasty sort of kind like raiders or fiends. They actually try to keep everything under control out here on the streets. Even give out stuff to people that help with their cause. I’d even be inclined to say they’ve done a better job than the NCR, since they don’t try to interfere with any of the businesses or anythin’ like that.”

As soon as she was finished talking, the woman abruptly started off in a different direction, once again leading the man down an array of streets and twisted alleyways, until they reached a small shop.

“This here is Mick and Ralph’s, they ain’t the fanciest place in town, but they sell their guns for cheap, and don’t try and push energy weapons like the Silver Rush.” Bera shuddered. She detested any gun that didn’t use traditional ammo. They just don’t feel right to her. “If y’ want to grab anything from inside, feel free.”

Now, I think callin’ me  gluttonous when it comes to chems is a bit drastic. I ain’t one of those junkies you see passed out in the alleyways of Freeside. I will, however, admit that I got quite the obsession *chew chew* when it comes to Cram. Especially now, eatin’ helps me keep my mind off of this horrible rash I’ve been gettin’ lately.
